PS Vita - SONY PlayStation Vita Portable
Android Games now on the PS Vita: Will this gamble pay off?
One gadget that is expected to make not only ripples, but waves in the video-gaming industry will be the release of the Sony Playstation Vita or simply PS Vita, which is a relative of the hugely popular gaming console released a few years back by the same company, which is the Playstation Portable or PSP. And although the gadget is still slate for a release in the year 2012, there are already various bits and pieces of information that have been released by its developers regarding its specifications and added features, and these breadcrumbs of details have been eagerly followed by video gamers who are anticipating for its release. The pieces of information that have been released regarding the PS Vita are not only confined to its physical appearance, as the company and its developers have already shed light about the added features of the PS Vita that are concerned with its inner features such as its software, and one of its more intriguing features is the apparent compability of Android Games on the PS Vita. Android Games are games that have been hitherto confined for play within the Android mobile phone, and have also gained a massive market of gamers and mobile phone users on their own, but this unprecedented move that places Android Games on the PS Vita may prove to be beneficial to both the developers of games on the Android phone as well as the developers of the PS Vita.
Some of the most popular Android Games on the PS Vita will be the Rovio-developed Angry Birds, which was made free in the Android App Market and has been bought two million times within its first week of release. Other popular Android games on the PS Vita include timeless games such as Tetris, Glow Hockey, UNO (the card game that has successfully invaded the Android Market), Cube Runner, Diner Dash, and even racing games such as Need for Speed Shift.
And while Sony has also made modifications that will allow gamers to download the content of Sony games into other gaming consoles and platforms, this particular move would be beneficial because the programming language on which the PS Vita and its games are based (C#, also called as c sharp) is actually a higher version and an upgrade of those on which the games for smartphones, tablets, and mobile phones such as the Android phone are based (C++, which is an earlier version of the more modern C#). This only means that the Android Games on the PS Vita will now be able to function more properly, and they might even be enhanced once these Android Games are played on the PS Vita.
The PlayStation Vita or PS Vita is still one of the anticipated gadgets that will be released in the gaming market because of its portability and the many other features that come with it. But Sony and the other developers of this groundbreaking console, in their effort to introduce and integrate the PS Vita with other gaming consoles and platforms, have allowed Android Games on the PS Vita, and this move is truly unprecedented and not to mention risky.
And whether this huge gamble by Sony and its fellow developers have indeed paid off will only be determined by the passing of time as gamers eagerly wait for the release of the PS Vita.
